Paying for your treatment yourself

You may wish to pay for your own treatment to gain rapid access to specialist diagnostics and treatment and avoid long waiting times.

Consultation fees:

Our fee for an initial consultation is £200. Subsequent follow up consultations directly related to surgery are free of charge. These include one follow on consultation via telephone before surgery (if within 6 weeks from the initial consultation) and any follow up consultation within the first 10 days after the operation.

The fee for follow up consultations outside the complementary conditions is £100.

Any tests that may be required before surgery are charged separately and will be quoted clearly to you beforehand.

Cost of treatment:

If surgery is the recommended and agreed treatment option for you, your consultant will perform the procedure at the state-of -the-art surgical facilities in the Spire Washington Hospital, assisted by an experienced surgical team.

The Spire Hospital’s fixed price quote for treatment covers all costs relating to your care following initial consultation and any tests recommended. This includes your surgeon’s fee, anaesthetist fees and other hospital fees such as nursing, accommodation, food, etc. Your hospital fees cover everything for as long as you need to stay in hospital - so you won’t get any unexpected bills if, for clinical reasons, you need to stay longer than planned.

Your consultant may require you to have diagnostic or investigative tests before being able to confirm the procedure required; these are charged for separately. *Comprehensive aftercare

“Aftercare” is included in all treatment price packages. This includes your care after you leave hospital, including consultations after surgery, removal of stitches (if required), change of dressings and the medication you need for up to 10 days after you leave hospital.

Paying for your treatment via private medical insurance

If you wish to pay for your treatment through private medical insurance, please ask your GP to make you a referral to Mr Aimen Amer at the Spire Washington hospital. You (or your GP) can then contact the Spire Washington Hospital on 0191 418 8636 to arrange your first appointment.

Before attending your first appointment, please contact your insurer to check the terms of your policy, particularly the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on consultation fees and any excess on your policy. The best way to make sure your insurance company will cover your costs is to contact them prior to each stage of treatment - such as before your first outpatient appointment, your procedure and your follow up care. Your insurance company will also guide you on how to claim on your policy.
